More Poetry
It should come as no surprise, if one were to review what I have posted here, that I like poetry. Reading it. Writing it. Nearly any style or time. I like the way poetry treats words and phrases and personally wish to be surrounded by more of it.
I have some notes that I keep. One was called "Short Poems For Not Poetry People" and the other is "More Short Poems For Not Poetry People". The first instance has been shared here already during the 2025 National Poetry Month, when I posted a poem each day. I do not want to wait a fee more montha until April again, so I will hopefully start sharing the ones I have found and enjoyed since.
I just want to share more poetry. I started to setup a Substack and even a Mastodon in hopes of reaching more people, but that felt too much like all of the othr social medias. So I return here with the ideal that maybe some people will find these words and appreciate it.
But also, maybe they will not. And I think that I okay with that for now. Here is a poem I wrote.
I Long To Be Forgotten
Just as an unlit candle
Hidden away in a corner of an undiscovered home,
May hope to remain out
For fear of a flame
Casting light and shadow upon its discoverer.
It’s fragrance might permeate the room
Filling each crevice with its honesty
It’s humanity passed along to whomever,
Wandering close enough,
Happened to smell it.
So I never light the candle;
Only opening the lid slightly
Along the edge and barely smelling it
To satisfy myself alone
Enough to survive another day.
